great music
The accompaniments are easy to play, and the music is so much fun to sing.definately reccomended if you're auditioning for the show, or just need a fun piece to perform.

I was pleased!
When I purchased the vocal selections for this show I received exactly what I expected. The songs were not difficult to play at all, yet it had almost every song from the show. If trying out for the show or just want some simple music to play...this is the book to buy.

This is THE most fun book I've ever played
I was the pianist for my high school's performance of this musical, and when I heard the music (the 1997 CD), I fell in love immediately.As the rehearsal pianist, I played through this book three hours a day for two months, but the original appeal has not faded!In fact, since I have to return the book (it's a rental), I plan on purchasing it as soon as the show's over. ... Fingerstyle Wonder
I agree with the previous reviewer, and would emphasize that these are not beginner's arrangements, either in tab or notes.That said, they are terrific fingerpicking versions. The real wizard is Mark Hanson for allowing guitarists to share in this magical score.

Great Harold Arlen tunes for beginning & intermediate guitar
Mark Hanson has done a fine job of arranging the original orchestrations for fingerstyle guitar.Some of it is approachable by the advanced beginner; intermediate guitarists should find their efforts rewarded with a fun little repetoire which offers room for musical expression.(There are some fairly tricky harmonics.)The more advanced guitaristcan develop a suite with much charm and a great deal of humor.Read more

Too Thick
The book has a splendid assortment of songs but it is so thick it is virtualy impossible to use.You cannot use it to play the piano.

Has it all, but it is BIG!
Working in geriatrics? This book is for you. But,as wonderful as it is for vocals, Guitar, and keyboard (who could ask for more), bear in mind this is a BIG BOOK for a music stand. Buy the book, work from the copy.This book really does have it all except for some great old World War IIera songswhich the author has in another "Big" volume. Great recording
This is an amazing show. I don't always know what's going on in it, but it's further proof of Jonathan Larson's genius. There are some obvious precursors to Rent, as well, so if you're a fan it's a nice addition.

It has all the songs...but not the notes
The book includes all the songs from the show but it doesn't have the other parts or harmony's written in. The piano part doesn't aid in that either (but that's a good thing...more like the original orchestrations). Overall a good resource and starting point.

disappointing
I was not happy with this book.They don't even include additional verses in the songs.One verse, one refrain, and they think they're done.I bought it for a specific song and there is only about a third of it in the book.If you are a serious musician, or would at least like all of the music, do not buy this book. ... Whether You Like It Or Not: "Hedwig" in Sheet Music Form!
John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's Hedwig and the Angry Inch debuted off Broadway in 1999, then gained widespread popularity in 2001 when a film version of the queer-themed rock musical hit theaters. It's a wonder why then fans had to wait till 2004 for a songbook to be released. The bitter wait aside, finally here is Hedwig and the Angry Inch: piano/vocal selections published by Hal Leonard, and if you're a Hedwig fan, better snatch one of these before they're out of print!
More woman then a man like you can stand!
This is, simply put, an amazing work. From the stage production to the written play to the movie adaptation, it is an incredible, gender-blowing glam rock force to be reckoned with. Maybe people will see themselves in Hedwig, and her emotions and beliefs are expressed beautifully, as are the underlying themes in the work. This is truely the only rock-n-roll musical that rocks--or even matters.

Long Live Hedwig
For some people, the stage production of Hedwig And The Angry Inch was this greally great Off-Broadway musical. For others it taught them a little bit about themselves, about those around them, and about their lives. John Cameron Mitchell's text laces beautifully with Stephen Trask's lyrics to dish out an emotional beat down that hurts so much you love it.Read more

Not the Most Inclusive Selection of Songs
The songs are written for an intermediate level pianist and they are arranged nicely.I am only giving this four stars because many of Cole Porter's best-loved songs are not included.For example, there is nothing from "Anything Goes" and "Kiss Me Kate".It is disappointing that so many gems were left out.On the plus side, the biography is nice and there are some nice photos.

Terrific arrangements of great songs
Finally, a large songbook of great Broadway music that doesn't have simplified arrangements! That is the single most important thing that any customer needs to know about purchasing this songbook - many songs don't have the vocal lines in the piano part (some do, but that's because John Kander wrote them that way, I'm assuming.)

Interpretation
Sondheim and Lapine wrote an excellent musical about the pointillist painter George Seurat. I really started to love the musical when I read Marc Bauch's "Themes and Topics of the American Musical" (Marburg: Tectum Verlag, 2001. ISBN: 3828811418), which I recommend to get to know how intertextually Sondheim worked. Bauch put Sondheim in the tradition of the American Musical with reference to his themes.

Pulitzer and Seurat put together by Sondheim and Lapine
This show is like a work of the main Character Georges Seurat. Point and point are putted together to a great piece of art. Stepehn Sondheim who recieved the Pulitzer Prize for this astonishing work of American MusicalTheatre puts all the points together to one brilliant composition of storyand storytelling his co-author James Lapine who wrote the book whileSondheim wrote the lyrics does a great job, too. No musical score:(
I love Rent, and this is a wonderful book if you love Rent.BUT I was also looking for the score (sheet music).All this has is the libretto (words only).I can only find songbooks that have highlights, not all the songs.Disappointing.

The RENThead Bible
This book is the perfect book for fans of the show and the perfect coffee table book... I simply love reading it and looking at the pictures. The book features information on how the show came about, it's sucess, and the life of Jonathon Larson(it's creator) struggle to have his show made on Broadway. Larson tragically died before opening night due to an undiagnosed heart condition. Truly it's a shame he did not live to see the dream of his creation realized.

Good for learning the songs
I like this book for it's simple piano music.Great if you are learning to sing these songs...I also enjoyed the bios and history of the play.BUT, why doesn't this book contain "War is a Science"?
