A Must Have Product
This songbook is one of the best you could get for belters.It has great classics and some awesome new songs to sing.Seriously, if you buy this book and you will not be disappointed!

Great arrangements
This book is an excellent resource for those interested in the Broadway belt sound.Most, if not all, of the songs are in the original key, and the arrangements are superb and musically interesting.There is a widevariety of styles from slow and sultry to lively and fun, from oldfavorites to some you may not have heard -- but once you do you will love. Both sopranos and altos will enjoy this book, however, a few of the songsdo have some very low notes.If you can't hit those, there will surely beanother piece in the book you'll enjoy. ... Read more

Be careful
3 times I have tried to buy the EASY PIANO version of this book and 3 times I was sent the paino-guitar-vocal version.I give up.I am done with Amazon.

Deffinetly not the best broadway songs ever..............i got this book because I'm a musical fanatic and play both keyboard and guitar, but the music in here was really diffecult and the songs werent that great. When you have over 50 musical soundtracks in you collection and have seen even more done in production, but still dont know some of the songs or musicals in the book you can tell its out dated. Great, Great Show.
I am doing this show in December and this was a really useful book to rehearse from! A brilliant buy!

The greatest musical I have ever read
This selection is a must have!!! When I saw the musical "Crazy for You" i knew that it was the best thing that my eyes have ever seen and thats why I started listening and watching musicals. This is a must have for everyone. The music is great and you will love it!!! I want to say even if you cant sing or cant act or anything like that you can always learn too and this is a great learning tool. GO NORTH VIKING'S DRAMA!!!

The Perfect Musical
This musical is nearly flawless.I have analyzed this show to great detail and I find it near-perfect.I love Jason Robert Brown (lyrics and music) - he's incredibly talented.As for Harold Prince, the director, he is a the winner of several Tony's, and Alfred Uhrly is just amazing as always, winning awards in several media categories.I recommend this musical to anyone who wants to be challenged musically and moved emotionally.This musical pushes the theatre up to new levels of excellence, which should be every composer's/director's goal.

Amazing score, difficult vocal score
Parade is one of the most auspicious debuts by a theatre composer in recent memory.Jason Robert Brown, then in his mid-20s, joined legendary 20-time Tony-winning producer-director Harold Prince and Tony-, Pulitzer- and Oscar-winning playwright Alfred Uhry for a musical about a Jewish man living in Atlanta in 1915 who was wrongly convicted of the murder of a young girl.The result was a critical success and one of the finest theatre scores I've ever heard.I anxiously awaited the release of this score so that I could play the songs and sing the moving melodies at home.The only problem is that Brown is such a talented "rock pianist" (think Jerry Lee Lewis meets Sondheim)that his piano parts are almost unplayable by amateurs such as myself.My advice: buy this book, and get someone very talented to play it for you. ... Gorgeous and Fun, Fun, Fun
I couldn't agree more with the other two reviews.This is a marvelous book that any musical and/or movie musical fan will devour.And the design, layout and pics are all sensational.If only "A Chorus Line" had been included, the book would be perfect.(Maybe Denkert was precluded from writing about it for some reason.)In any event, this is a reader-friendly (not to mean dumb) coffee table book that won't break your wrists or the bank.
A Coffee Table Volume with Real Information!
You might expect that a work filled with such brilliant photography in the coffee-table sized format to be all fluff.Wrong, Ladies and Gentlemen.This work actually has something to say and does it in an intelligent fashion!Not for just anyone, but if you truly Love the American Musical it is a Must Have.Since I teach Musicals, both Broadway and Hollywood, this is a welcome reference work.Besides the photos are wonderful and many not seen elsewhere.

Ragtime has some of the most glorious songs on Broadway!
I had an urge to play some Ragtime tunes on my piano, so I bought thisbook and began to play.It has the vocal selections along with the sheetmusic.I find that the sheet music consists of many many chords, making itmore difficult, but it's still great fun to play and sing!Great forauditions! Where's "The Show Biz"?
I love this book and have used it many times for auditions/concerts etc. However, one of my most favorite selections from the Original 1996 Toronto recording is the song between Nesbit and Houdini called "The ShowBiz". Besides being hilarious, it's the perfect duet to open a concertwith. I was extremely disappointed to find that this book didn't includethat song. Does anyone know where that sheet music can be found?

Great Music forIntermediate Piano Players
The Two Towers Music score is wonderful and will be enjoyed by people who love to listen to the LOTR soundtracks.The music for Gollum's song is wonderful, and not too hard once you get it down.Evenstar is very beautiful and also very easy. "Isengard Unleashed" features "The March of the Ents", one of my favorite parts of this book."Breath of Life" is not exceptional if you ask me, but it's there."Forth Eorlings" is wonderful, especially the ending!And finally, If you've been trying really hard to figure out how that Rohan theme goes, wait no more.Here it is, and it's really fun!So if your at least an intermediate piano player and love Lord of the Rings music this is for you.

good, but not worth $12.71
When I first looked at the music, my impression was "This is it?" I must admit I expected more, but after playing it my opinion changed. It definitely takes intermediate skills to play as written, but with a few minor adjustments (like leaving out a roll or slowing down the tempo) late beginners can enjoy this music too.
Excellent soundtrack-to-piano music...Rohan is to die for
It's books like this that made me wish I had the natural talent for music, or had at least studied and practiced hard enough to develop talent. The motion picture score that Howard Shore composed for The Lord of the Rings trilogy is absolutely brilliant, and while nothing can match his magnificent orchestra, there is something unique and incredible about hearing the same music played on a simple piano -- coming from your very own fingers.Read more

The whole book is really good, but three songs became the ones that I enjoy the most - Music of the Night, All I ask of you, and Wishing you were somehow here again.But all the songs are really outstanding.The cool thing is that they sound just like the original music.
Piano Practice Made Pleasing
For those of you who enjoy playing piano, or can't practice a lot but want to chill a little at times, well, here is just the music to help you relax.
Very Pretty - Not So Helpful
Sigh...Like most of Andrew Lloyd Webber's sheet music, selections from Phantom of the Opera gives you a watered-down transcription featuring many cuts.Even worse, the accompaniment is hardly the original accompaniment at all, rather it simply follows the vocal line.This might be acceptable for fans who simply want to play through the music on their parlor piano without a vocalist, but for a real musical theater fan, it's very disappointing.So far, I've only found one place which gives an accurate transciption of the accompaniment (an excerpt from the full piano-vocal score).The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology: Soprano, Vol. 3, compiled by Richard Walters features "Think of Me" and "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" in their original form.For performers and accompanists alike, there's something to get excited about.So far, we're still waiting on more from the Phantom of the Opera, but they're creating a 4th edition of the Anthologies soon, so watch out. ... Awesome play
Great music, great writing, great everything! I actually am working on the production of Footloose (the play comes out in 2 months) and I play Chuck Cranston. just to say so. Great Show!
This by far one of the best musicals ever.I had the pleasure of preforming in it over the summer, and let me tell you...it has great, clasic songs that you'll keep huming for days and a timless teenage story!

Pure Propaganda
"The Story of 'Miss Saigon'" by Edward Behr and Joseph Steyn is, quite simply, a work of propaganda.This is true not only because the purpose of the book is to persuade the reader to buy a ticket to see the stage musical "Miss Saigon," but because the book tells an egregiously one-sided account of the 1990 controversy over the casting of white British actor Jonathan Pryce as the musical's Vietnamese male lead, the Engineer.In the summer of 1990, "Miss Saigon's" powerful British producer, Cameron Mackintosh, wanted to cast Pryce as the Engineer -- Broadway's first Asian-male lead (non-supporting) role in 15 years -- without seriously considering any Asian actors for the part.Actors Equity, the American stage-actors' union, denied Pryce a visa to play the role, citing the paucity of lead roles for Asian American actors and Mackintosh's refusal to audition any in good faith.Rather than take the matter to arbitration, as was his option, Mackintosh indignantly accused Equity of "discriminat[ing] against Mr. Pryce on the basis of his race" and canceled the Broadway production, which had already amassed a then-record $25 million in advance ticket sales.
A standing ovation!
Miss Saigon fans will not be disappointed by this pictured-packed, thoroughly written work. (And this is a keeper for Lea Salonga fans, too.) The format is akin to the more accessible "Phantom of the Opera" books -- in fact, I cannot understand why the publisher doesn't have stacks of "The Story of Miss Saigon" sitting beside the coffee mugs and T-shirts at theater gift shops in London, on Broadway and at the tour stops. Amazon's Out of Print Search Service also rates a "10" -- quick, helpful and very reliable.

Sondheim at his prime
The music to Assassins is incredibly written.There's no doubt that it's Sondheim at his best.The unusual rhyming schemes and clever lyrics make this musical one of my favorites.You can't escape the underlying humor ofa musical about a bunch of U.S. presidential assassins.The music may be alittle difficult for beginners to play (or sing, for that matter), but ifyou're up for a challenge, I say definetely go for it! ... Full musical score
This is a complete score of the music for the Oklahoma stage version- vocal, group vocal, and instrumental transcription to piano.All music for dance segments is included.It is NOT a complete libretto with all actor lines - some are included within the various numbers.An excellent source for the music of the entire play - although the tessitura is quite high.The gentleman who reviews this product as bogus must have purchased something else entirely.

Avoid.
Disappointing.The description on Amazon says 16 pages.I wondered how they fit the libretto into 16.They didn't.Just 6 schmaltzy tunes.Avoid this slim, slim, slim (e.g. partial lyrics for the 6 tunes that are included) offering.
MY FAVORITE MUSICAL!
This is my favorite R&H show!I own all of the Vocal Scores, and love this one a little bit more than the others.All music from the show is contained in this Vocal Score, from the Overture to bows and exit music.This is the music from the original broadway production, and from the version that is released from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Music Theatre Library.(...) ...
