The best minis set yet
This is the best set the miniatures team has come out with to date.If you like dragons, and most people do, then it is a great buy.

The perfect follow-up to GoL
Giants of Legend (GoL) was the previous "huge" expansion, and it's clear that Wizards learned from their previous run. This set has an excellent balance of huge and regular minis with some amazing sculpture and surprisingly good paint in most cases. The translucent minis are especially breathtaking, and I leave the huge and small fire elementals in the middle of my table while gaming, just for effect.
Renewed Vigor for DDM
I'm very impressed with this newest set of miniaturs from WotC.If you're a person that's picked up previous sets, you might have been put off (as I was) at the quality of the last set.These pieces have washed that horrible taste from my mouth, and helped me rediscover my love of this product line.

Real life example.
My nephew is 21, a college senior, and last week his mother yelled at him because he keeps getting a certain ringtone on his cellphone.She yelled because that ringtone is reserved for the girls he no longer wants to see, but who keep calling him constantly anyway.His mom yelled because she thought he should be honest with them, but he "just couldn't be that mean." He preferred to tell them he was too busy and then just stop calling.And you know what?Very few of them take the hint.They need this book -- stat.If you keep calling, texting and emailing a guy and he never answers or is "too busy," he's not busy, or scared, or confused about his feelings - he's just not that into you.Believe me, Behrendt is onto something.When my nephew wants to date a girl, nothing stops him from seeing her.It's that simple.

Saved me from relationship hell
Admit it or not,this book speaks the truth.We just need reminding not to settle.Practical, funny, witty and every woman's must-read!

Eye opening stuff
This book was very useful and eye opening. In a very honest, fun and frank way, Greg explains there are no mixed messages and that men are not complicated, but terrified to tell a woman directly "you are not the one". It is very useful so that women don't waste time making excuses for these men and move on to find the one guy who is really into them. I would also recommend reading "How to create a Magical Relationship" from Ariel and Shya Kane, which is a very simple and direct guide to have satisfying, honest, fun and magical relationships. The Kanes' approach is gentle and full of wisdom and gives a fresh take on a world that keeps wanting to divide men from women.It also really explains how to keep relationships alive and fully in-love, which is absolutely the next step after he is totally into you!!" ... Not exactly what I wanted.
I've been considering returning to contract bridge after a 10 year hiatus and wanted to brush up on my bidding.I was looking for an intermediate/advanced overview of American Standard.This is a basic textbook obviously designed to be used in a classroom with a teacher.You will get basic bidding techniques and some recommendations on play.You won't get any conventions past Blackwood, Gerber or Stayman.Transfers, Unusual Notrump and the like aren't covered.If you're a beginner, this is a good starting point, though it would be best to use it with an instructor.If you're an intermediate or advanced player.Look elsewhere.

Great Book - Best Used in a Bridge Course
Audrey Grant's books - like Introduction to Bridge are exceptional.They are best used in a bridge class/training session where an instructor can lead and help the student through the the basics of bridge learning.The value of Audrey Grant's books are that they present a system of bridge which has revolutionized modern bridge.

Good and bad choices in financial trading
Having a choice in life is a good thing; a person without choices is often miserable.As the number of choices grows, our happiness grows with them, but then it begins to decline.Having too many choices creates stress.Schwartz describes his visit to a local supermarket: "...next to the crackers were 285 varieties of cookies.Among chocolate chip cookies there were 21 options. ... Across the isle were juices - 13 `sports drinks,' 65 `box drinks' for kids, 85 other flavors and brands of juices, and 75 iced teas and adult drinks.I could get these tea drinks sweetened (sugar or artificial sweetener), lemoned, and flavored. ... I found 61 varieties of suntan oil and sunblock, and 80 different pain relievers - aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen; 350 milligrams or 500 milligrams; caplets, capsules, and tablets; coated or uncoated.There were 40 options for toothpaste, 150 lipsticks, 75 eyeliners, and 90 colors of nail polish from one brand alone."
One of the most interesting, thought, provoking, and immediately useful books I've read.
I read about 4 books per month and this is hands down one of the best ones I've read in the past year. Packed with information, yet enjoyable to read, I had a hard time putting this one down.

This book is one of the most interesting books I have ever read. The basic premise of this book is that the more choice we have, the more anxious we become about the decisions we have to make. Think for example, about how many different stores there are in a mall. You want to buy a dress shirt, but which store do you go into? Will the Gap have a better deal than Banana Republic? Or maybe Macy's or Lord & Taylor will have a better shirt. But then, which shirt do you pick once you decide what store to walk into? All these decisions prove to be quite exhausting, despite our unconscience ability to make such them on a constant basis.

This is one heck of a fun book!
Thompson's classic novel shows that quest literature (in this case the quest for the American Dream) is not at all dead. This is tale is wonderfully crafted and will entertain until the last page.
Sometimes you just have to give it another chance
I have read this book about a dozen times, and I won't lie, the first few times were hard. I wasn't sure if I even understood this book, let alone liked it. My husband was a big fan, and convinced me to give the book another shot one day- and am I happy he did. I got it. It is funny, sad, crazy and weird. It's a journey that I am happy I took, and will take again. It is one of those book that each and every time you read it you will take away something new and fresh. Great read. Try it, you will like it.

hilarious!
If you are looking for a good laugh and are not offended by drugs, lewd behavior, and hooliganism, then I would highly recommend this book.90% of the story takes place while the two main characters are doped up on various drugs or combinations of them, and the consequences are hilarious.I laughed most of the way through.

excellent resource
Even while reading this book I was able to pitch an idea for an event and documentary project, my first, and gain acceptance for the project. The concepts are helpful as well as practical. Sell your kids to buy this book
There is little in written text that summarise the worth of this book. I was so moved by its detailed and incisive content and direction that I sold my kids to afford the time and space, the peace required to absorb the rivetting content. FIVE STARS, excellent, excellent, excellent.

One Sexy Book...
I highly enjoyed the content of this book.I wanted at least 2 base classes, but the Dragonfire Adept will do for me.This class is like the Dragon Shaman and a Warlock put together.Poor BAB, 2 good saves, d6 HD, 4+on skills...it is very solid, and very good (if you include the other abilites).The book contains new player options so anyone can enjoy the abilites of the dragons.It also contains the standard bonuses too (new spells, innvocations, ETC).One of things I liked most about the book is the new feats.The book redid the Heritage feats for the 3rd time, and made me wanting to play a Sorceror again.The best part of the book is that is has content for ALMOST all other accessory books (Incarnum, Complete Series, Psionics, etc)Though this book is not as good as the Tome of Battles: Book of the Nine Swords, it is still a must buy for all.

Sell Your "Races of the Dragon" and Pick This One Up
If you're running a dragon-based campaign, the Draconomicon was an ideal book for the DM.Then along came Races of the Dragon, which gave Kobold-lovers something to work with, but offered little else interesting to the casual player.Dragon Magic makes up for what RotD failed to bring to the table.As with many new books released, this one doesn't require other sourcebooks, but certainly makes use of them.It is expected from a dragon-related book, but as a warning, this book is very Sorcerer-intensive.

This Book Made Me Fall Asleep!
After reading "Why Do Men Have Nipples" and loving it, I had high hopes for book number two.
Hey Doc, here's one that you'll like!!!!!!!!
I loved this book!!!!! I learned a lot and laughed my butt off in the process (hmmm, here's one for you guys,can one laugh ones butt off).I had only read a few pages of the "Nipple" book and liked it but never bought it or finshed it (Sorry guys, a slow learner here) but halfway through this book, I went and ordered the Nipple book. I highly recommend this book to everyone I know and those I don't know.

A Probing Read For Understanding Our Bodies
Overall, I found this book very enjoyable.As suggested by the title, quirky questions that tangentially pop, or might eventually come, into one's mind are answered.Questions related to differences in the sexes, responses in sports physiology, affects of hormones, and truths of homeopathic healing are investigated among other topics.The book is tied together with lead-in fictional anecdotes and interjected IM conversations.The anecdotes are amusing, but the IM messages are very interesting as they show some of the behind the scenes methods (and digressions) that entail in the approach of putting a large literary work together.

Absolute Joy
I have always enjoyed Larry Miller's stand up, and now I am delighted to find his point of view in book form.I love his take on marriage and family (his wife is a hoot!) to the everyday nonsense that we all do.I feel this book is very relatable and smart -- even though there where times I didn't understand one of his many historical refrences, I still understood what he was saying.Mr. Miller is a terrific writer, who is not afraid to reveal all sides of his personality.If you want a good laugh, then get this book!You will not be dissapointed.

Laugh-outloud funny, but wait - it's great writing, too!
That Larry Miller is a crafty one all right.You think you're reading a book of comic essays but then it suddenly dawns on you: this is really good!Impressive!It's got my brain - and my heart - pumping.How'd he do that?
This is not only delightful writing and fun reading, it is wonderfully funny!
I love Larry Miller.Ever since I heard his "Five Levels of Drinking" years ago, and his comment that woman is the most powerful magnet in the universe and all men are cheap metal, well, I knew we had found a mind that could tell the funny truth.This is not a simple thing.Most of what is passed off as comedy is just awful and obscene twaddle that gets laughs by punching the audience in the gut.The laughs are more explosive exhalations than expressions of delight and joy.Miller brings delight and joy.

An incredible introduction to film.
Gianetti continues to produce the ultimate in introductory film texts.He seemlessly introduces us to the history of cinema while teaching us everything we need to know to fully understand film.After finishing this text you will no longer look at films the same way.
Giannetti's cash cow?
I'm with reviewer Robert Jordan on this one.I've taught film courses and used Giannetti's book.It is strongest on film analysis -- mise en scene, lighting, movement, etc.It is less strong in other areas, like the sociology (ideology?) of film.I haven't seen the current edition, but have been annoyed in the past by the general lack of real revision in new editions of the book.Indeed, most of the text stays the same, only the film examples are updated.Maybe this appeals to students who like to see their recent faves in a textbook but -- as the other review notes -- this hardly warrants the expense of a new book (now over $70!).In past editions, I have also been especially disappointed in Giannetti's section on lesbians and gays in film.This is an exploding field -- from Randy Shilts' book The Celluloid Closet (which Gianetti cites but gives little evidence of having read) to queer cinema and theory.For several editions running, Giannetti's attention to this area carried the long-outmoded title "Gay Liberation" (not used among gay people for decades) and never ventured much in the way of cultural deconstruction.I'm scheduled to teach a film course next term and will undoubtedly look at Giannetti's text again, but sure do hope to find something else.Since I teach at a community college of cash-strapped students, I'll also be looking at something less expensive.

Generous and Wonderful
Being one who always wanted to audition using the Witch's song or the Baker's Wife's song, I am delighted and grateful to Sondheim and Co. for putting out this amazing vocal score.The effort to do so must have been incredible.My only wish, not complaint, is that the chords were also represented by "C" or "Dmaj7" so that I could play along as I sing.I can read music, but if I have to play piano chords by sight only, it takes me days to finger it one note at a time.Well, that's probably my fault - practice, practice, practice!Anyway, it's quite a thorough job and now I have audition pieces galore!Only hope the accompanists can play it!

Not quite worth it
I haven't actually purchased this book, but Amazon won't let me post without giving it a score. However, I just want to point out to any WoW newbies interested in buying it that many things change in Azeroth, meaning this atlas will become more and more incorrect as time passes. Flight paths have changed more than once, as have the locations of various NPCs. Also, dungeons and entire areas have been added to Azeroth since it was released two years ago, including several since this book was published last winter. If you really want up-to-date maps, I would search online for sites that keep updated maps. Usually, sites that offer maps also have maps and walkthroughs of instances, so they will be much more useful than this atlas. Allakazam is one site I can think of off the top of my head. Not to knock this book, I'm sure it's pretty and all that; I just don't think it's that useful for playing the game.

WoW Atlas
I haven't used the book in the game yet (I bought it in anticipation of my return from a deployment).I looked through the book briefly (it just made me want to play more when I return), it seems to have a lot of good information for each city.My main reason for buying the atlas is that I really don't like to switch screens back and forth when playing.So hopefully this will help me out.If I feel different after playing with the atlas, I'll update my review. ... Book Just As Good As The Play!!
Byran & Sam's book "Jewtopia" is a great read. It's so funny, and helps Jews see the great humor in our culture. From the Foreward and the History (Where It All Began) to the Conspiracy Theories, you are laughing out loud. I bought this book as a present to my 21 year-old sister but I'm reading this book first before I give it to her! This book is just as good as the play. I recommend "The Chosen Book for the Chosen People" to be on everyone's coffee table for many years to come!!

A WONDER TO BEHOLD- FUNNIEST THING EVER!
What a joy to have a book that makes you laugh from beginning to end! What might appear as a "coffe table" book is actually a great cover to cover read. The artwork, illustrations and design is firstrate, but what stands out above all is the comedy - this is one REALLY REALLY REALLY funny book - and I'm not even a Jew! This is going to be my gift of choice for all my friends!

Bathroom Humor. Next Time Print Your Material In The Stall With A Marker.
It's not a bad book if you enjoy middle school bathroom humor....about half the book is sexual humor. And for about 25% of the questions they dont know the answer.
Funny, interesting, entertaining, and "helpful"!
Somehow any further compliment to this book seems meaningless amongst the sea of positive reviews here. However, I still want to express my heartfelt appreciation to some authentic answers to some of my life long doubts, including:-
The 411 on all things gross and goofy
Funnier than the alarmist 1960s "classic" EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SEX * BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK. This post-modern medical answer book is more of a "Goofus and Gallant explain it all to you, and then some." It is mostly presented as short medical explanations based on questions doctors often get asked at cocktail parties after the other guests' inhibitions drop from their alcohol consumption. These tidbits include sexual and scatalogical curiosities, old wives' tales, and medical oddities bordering on urban legends. These informative, if odd, explanations are interspersed with verbatim email and IM exchanges (typos left uncorrected) between the coauthors--the bona fide medical doctor Goldberg (Gallant) and medical tourist Leyner (in the Goofus role). They have no illusions about the literary merit of their collaboration and are quite frank about the room in the house where their book is most likely to be read and shelved. Don't throw about your AMA Guide to Medicine, but DO read WHY DO MEN HAVE NIPPLES? for the fun of it. If laughter is the best medicine, you'll probably extend your life by at least another week or two. ... Read more

A well defended postion, but perhaps a bit too defensive
I was at one time a research scientist, but not a physicist. I took a year of Quantum Mechanics, but certainly don't regard myself as very knowledgeable in this area or mathematics. Therefore, this review is coming from a space of being an educated layperson with a broad background and open mind. I think this is important to know before you read more of my review.
not trivial, not definitive
First some background.I am not a physicist or involved in this field in any way so my review is aimed at the amateur who wants to know about the state of affairs in physics and specifically string theory.
A timely and honest critique
I've been following the arguments made by Peter Woit against String Theory for quite some time, and it's a pleasure to be able to have them all in a single volume. His arguments are very persuasive, and his writing clear and to the point. This, however, is not a book that the general audience will find easy to follow. The earlier chapters recount the canonical story of the success of the particlephysics in the 20th century, and if you are familiar with that story you can safely skip these chapters. The later chapters are the really interesting ones, but unless you have at least some familiarity with theoretical particle physics and the modern mathematics, you might find yourself lost. Even with that caveat it is still possible to appreciate the central theme of this book: theoretical particle physics took a wrong turn somewhere in the late 70s and the early 80s, and has never been able to recover from this. Woit is appealing in this book to the practitioners in the field to be more honest with their assessments of the direction in which the theoretical particle physics is headed, and the lack of any meaningful progress.
