5-0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS BOOK!! It might save your life.
This is a slightly edited copy of mail I sent to Andy Borowitz. I seriously needed and loved this book. Please take a chance and buy it. As I said, above, it might save your life. Or at least your mental health!
5-0 out of 5 stars It's not really a play ...
but it is a tragicomedy. The manipulation and betrayal of American voters may not seem hilarious, but Borowitz shows us humor galore there.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sharp Satire Shocker!
Andy Borowitz is a genius of political satire! I ordered "The Republican Playbook" and Frank Rich's "The Greatest Story Ever Sold" at the same time. One is fiction, one is non-fiction. One makes me laugh, one makes me cry.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tons of Fun
I really enjoyed this book.Jenny McCarthy is very up-front and detailed about her pregnancy experience.Which is a good thing - she has an excellent, irreverent sense of humor.Reading this book feels like a conversation with a close friend.McCarthy has been through all the good and bad sides of pregnancy. When you read this book, you know that she understands what it's all like, and that makes you feel a little less scared about the whole thing.
5-0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!
I absolutely adore this book.I picked it up when I was about 6 months pregnant and read through it right away.As I was reading it I noticed that I didn't experiance any of the things that Jenny had experiance (most of the things in her book aren't in normal baby books so I thought that i was normal).Wouldn't ya know it.. I couple weeks later I got ALL of those experiance. At least I wasn't to suprised!!! She tells you what doctors and your mother wont warn you about!I recommend Baby Laughs as well

5-0 out of 5 stars Fell In Love With Jenny...
She is JUST like my best friend!!! My best friend and I are both going to start trying in January to have a baby... Not together... haha.. but I am sending her the two books Belly and Baby Laughs.. I love how honest Jenny is.. and I think that they will make my friend laugh, cry and scream.. I also feel honored and blessed that there is a book out there that talks like my best friend and I do.. Our excuse is we are both marrie to the blunt Navy boys.. hehehe.. Jenny just is!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars When's the next book?
This is material I normally would only be half interested in, but I was completely engaged and couldn't put the book down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Old rememberances
I always liked those comics that took place around the turn of the century or even earlier, and inevitably always ended up showing machines like the one in this book. Wacky guns, ungodly huge everything; completely unresonable in the real world, especially thirty years before their supposed invention, but fantastic on the page. Now I have a book full of these and a stack of comics that I'm suddenly interested in again. Zack might be a regular 'ol crazy fiction writer, but he sure supplied some great material to the artist types out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Zack Book Good!
Zack Parsons has done a great job with this book.As a mechanical engineer, I've always been fascinated with WWII era "wonder weapons" and have read a number of books on the subject.Of all of those books, this on is perhaps the only one I would recommend to someone who had only a passing interest in the subject.Zack keeps it light and entertaining throughout - this isn't just good WWII geekery, it's good reading, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars grand ole' time
Hilarious encounters and stories involving ample idiots and alcohol.A great read, but definitely not for the sensitive types. My female friends and I all loved it!Word for the wise, you need a cynical outlook and sick sense of humor to enjoy. But if you're a slightly twisted individual as myself who has no problem laughing at other's unfortune/stupidity, you will have a field day with this quick and easy read. I may even inspire you to take down some of your own unbelievable stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious
I didn't know how funny a book can be until I was reading this book. I didn't think reading it in public would be that bad, but apparently, bursting out in hysterical laughter on the eliptical machine in the gym is a little frowned upon, especially if I accidentally mension the fact that he shat all over himself during my laugh. I believe I fell in love with Tucker just a little, but too bad he doesn't look as good as he does on the cover, the little chubster. Hopefully, I hear of more encounters with women that aren't blonde haired and blue eyed. He should visit hawaii where he can get more variety.
5-0 out of 5 stars A hilarious walk down memory lane....
I couldn't put this book down. This was an absolutely hilarious, and sometimes wincingly so, over-the-top account of random "hook-ups" with women that are glimpses of an earlier time in most college aged males lives that, for Mr. Max, seem to continue long past when the majority of us have sold out to marriage, kids, the white picket fence, stable pay check....etc.I found myself thinking during every chapter..."Holy cr**, what if his mother reads this?" Unforturnately fate has a sense of humor and I have three daughters now...maybe I'll have them read this book before they go off to college as a "heads-up" to what is out there.Mr. Max, I'll see you in hell and the first round is on me! ... Editorial Review

Lumberjacks, pirates, and Chuck Norris all agree that there is but one arbiter of manliness, and he has but one name: Maddox. The longtime proprietor of the absurdly popular website, The Best Page in the Universe, Maddox has thoughtfully collected his vast masculine wisdom for the first time in a useful reference work, The Alphabet of Manliness. Since men of course communicate with others only under duress, this book may be the sole resource for those starved for answers about basic manly subjects such as urinal etiquette, road rage, and beef jerky.Read more

Holy beaver biscuits... I've been in a Jim Beam-soaked kidney buster of a dream for the last 5 months, ever since Maddox sent me his book and I celebrated by bagging the entire PAC 10 cheerleading collective... the smelly skanks deserved it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Get ready to laugh out loud!
My Goodness, he is an incredible guy and this book is one of the funniest I have ever read. I was wondering why he has so many fans but now I know. He really delivers great, original and very funny content that I read and reread wherever I am not in good mood. I have to agree that the author knows how to entertain and keep you turning the pages. If you missed your Manliness 101 and 202 then you will want to get a copy and even pair it with scientfically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex for even greater score with the ladies. Some of the guys here claim that due to the humor in this outstanding book you will grow extra hair. Well I didn't observe such "side effects" but at a few times I could hardly stop laughing. This book is incredible and I highly recommend getting a copy. Cheers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars He knows more than I thought...
A few weeks ago, my husband turned to me out of the blue and remarked smugly, "I can't believe how some guys don't know anything about pregnancy."
4-0 out of 5 stars Short? Yes Worth it? Yes Useful? Yes
As a first time expecting father everything has been confusing, even looking for a pregnancy guide that's shorter than The Bible. This was my first book I've read on the subject so I didn't want something overwhelming. This is exactly what this book is good for. It gives relevant information that one can digest in a few hours and come away knowing more than they did. This book is simple, informative, and humourous. I remember quite a few times where I would point a part out and show it to my wife.
5-0 out of 5 stars Breath of fresh air
My wife and I read this book together while expecting our first child. Our doctor, friends, and family inundated us with medical/psychological/technical books that increase your stress levels as much as your knowledge about pregnancy. This author manages to inform and entertain at the same time.It is a quick read that provided a welcome break from the other content-heavy pregnancy books, although I would recommend reading one or two of those as well. ... I would've given it 5 stars but it should get about 4.8 stars.
3-0 out of 5 stars Lost in Translation...
While it's great hearing David Sedaris' voice, it ultimately takes away from the experience.Sedaris' books are amazingly funny and dark; very witty stuff. They are best enjoyed in print form though, when the reader can inject their own tone and inflection into the words of the printed page.Hearing David Sedaris' interpretation somewhat lessens this experience.
5-0 out of 5 stars How Can You Beat This Price?
As a big fan of David Sedaris, I have loved listening to him read his stories on NPR even more than I have enjoyed reading his books. While I had wanted to purchase some of the audiobooks, they always seemed so pricy.

Funniest book I've read in a long time, had me laughing aloud through a flight from Boston to Dublin.

1-0 out of 5 stars What? Is this supposed to be funny?
Another east coast know it all making fun of the things Americans hold dear, even 9-11.
1-0 out of 5 stars First book I could not listen past the first CD and even that was difficult
I have listened to 15-20 audio books during the past year and this was definitely the worst and perhaps the only bad buy I have had. There is no humor here.I was looking for ideas and styles of telling jokes since I do many keynote talks at conferences but I found nothing here except a style to avoid. What a bunch of totally worthless crap this is.Unless, you are teaching a course on how to generate creative names for things, I would pretty much say pass on this one.The people who like this book must sure be patient or have nothing better to do with their lives, since I had difficultly listening past the introduction.I got through the first CD and could not stand anymore.I tried to put the next CD in to have a go, but by mind kept telling me not to.I am spending more time writing this review than this book deserves. If I was the publisher of this book, I would be embarrassed. If I was Jonathan (John Hodgman's friend), I would be embarrassed too.Stop yourself from buying this book. Please!

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny but odd.. Buy with caution.
Very good book but only buy it if you are looking for a book with a very strange sense of humor. In the first story he explains his job as an Elf at Santaland and describes his daily life. It is so funny, some of the things people do there are amazing and crazy at the same time.
3-0 out of 5 stars David Sedaris
Another collection of essays from a brilliant wit who you know you love to read. It's like I've said in my reviews before. There's no need to review each book when I can just give the author a blanket endorsement and guarantee you'll love whatever you find by the guy. I love it when that happens. I may have annoyed Jan by laughing out loud too often. Sedaris is like that.
4-0 out of 5 stars I enjoy sick humor!
If you laugh at children falling down this is the book for you.He may push it sometimes but isn't that what a good writer should do?Knowing he is half Greek, so am I, I was hoping for a good egg cracking story or roasting lamb in your backyard.Unfortunately there wasn't one.Santaland was my favorite. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Why are readers taking this books to heart, it's a book, written by an Fictional Person!
We have to remember that this is fiction, just as Terry Perry Movies and Plays.I feels it's to make you think, laugh and draw your own conclusion.Instead of picking out things that you did not enjoy, try picking out things that were good about the book, that made you think. Many times you may read something that isn't entertaining to you, but entertaining to others. In purchasing this book, you have to remember that Madea is a man in women clothing, and accept it for what it is, entertainment.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Humorous, very insightful, a great Book for all Women, no matter their race!
Personally, I had to lower my expectations after finishing this book, but it is still getting 5 stars because, as it states Madea is a fictional character and so you take it as it's meant to be, to make you look at your life and maybe see things differently, that's all, and also 5 stars for making me laugh at subjects that can be painful truths to that many of us woman don't even want to think about too deeply, let alone face up to and change.I loved the witty repartee, I liked the matter-of-fact style of Madea! If you are reading this as if it were a non-fictional self-help, instead of the inspirational and uplifting Bit of humor blended with "let's-get-real" truth that it is, you might be a very disappointed.Tyler Perry did a fantastic job of recounting the age-old Black Woman's wisdom on many private subjects we women all discuss and also of making ALL WOMAN, no matter their race, see that we need to stick together and that no matter what life brings your way, keep Laughing! I look forward to another book from the beloved Madea.Great Job, Tyler Perry! Great Job!

4-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the wait....characters need some improvement.
I waited impatiently for #5. I was hooked from the first time I saw the cover. The social comentary is valid and some of the characters are well done. The need for firearms in society is positivley reinforced- a brave stand by the authors considering the current cultural war against guns. Certain characters are making decsions that are just plain stupid. This series is fiction, but was meant to examine how people would live long term. They would learn from their mistakes regarding security, and not go galivanting and compromise their group. Any less thought and the series will begin to be a pure horror series, with people being stupid just to keep the body count up. I am waiting for #6.

5-0 out of 5 stars The road goes ever onward
This ongoing saga continues and continues to impress.Rick and company have settled in at the prison and although there have been numerous traumas both related to the walking dead and to the interpersonal dynamics, the little community seems to be in fairly good shape nowadays.

3-0 out of 5 stars An X-Rated "All in a Day's Work"
There is very little comic insight in this book.A collection of short tales of debauchery and wild drug use that road comics would tell each other, the book makes a normal person feel like a rube who bought a ticket to the freak show. (Yes, there is just a hint of envy in that last statement.) Some of the stories are funny, in a "Porky's" sort of ashamed-that-I'm-laughing way.
4-0 out of 5 stars Warning Label
A warning label should be posted on this book: Please allocate 4-6 hours of time before opening this book. You will not be able to put it down.I truly enjoyed this compilation of stories from the comedy trenches.
5-0 out of 5 stars Really fun read
The Publishers' Weekly review on this page says this book is fantastic "bathroom reading." I guess they mean that it's perfect for people who don't always have time to sit down and read for an hour or two at a stretch.Because the stories in here are so short, it's easy to read for ten minutes, get a few complete stories and good chuckles, and then put the book down for next time. There are well over a hundred stories in here so if you read the book this way it'll last you for a while! 4-0 out of 5 stars for nice guys hoping to change their situation
I read this book as a beginning text, and I think it's useful for those people who are lulled into the 'nice guy phenomenon' who are a bit naive/overly idealistic about romantic situations and who need a good kick of machiavellianism up the rear. It's emphasis is on the later years (ie past 25), and takes a topic that's very difficult and gives it a comedic twist.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book I ever read
Very funny and very true.... A guide that should be followed by every man if they want to survive in this world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handle with care!
This isn't just another book about some jerk trying to get a girl. It's about dealing with women and had this funny, tongue-in-cheek thing going for it. I have to say that I did crack up a few times while I was reading it. (I am sure this was the author's intention.) Can you take it seriously? Sure and that's why I recommend it, along with "Get Laid Now!". ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Real life example.
My nephew is 21, a college senior, and last week his mother yelled at him because he keeps getting a certain ringtone on his cellphone. She yelled because that ringtone is reserved for the girls he no longer wants to see, but who keep calling him constantly anyway. His mom yelled because she thought he should be honest with them, but he "just couldn't be that mean." He preferred to tell them he was too busy and then just stop calling. And you know what?Very few of them take the hint. They need this book -- stat.If you keep calling, texting and emailing a guy and he never answers or is "too busy," he's not busy, or scared, or confused about his feelings - he's just not that into you.Believe me, Behrendt is onto something. When my nephew wants to date a girl, nothing stops him from seeing her. It's that simple.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saved me from relationship hell
Admit it or not, this book speaks the truth. We just need reminding not to settle.Practical, funny, witty and every woman's must-read!

4-0 out of 5 stars Eye opening stuff
This book was very useful and eye opening. In a very honest, fun and frank way, Greg explains there are no mixed messages and that men are not complicated, but terrified to tell a woman directly "you are not the one". It is very useful so that women don't waste time making excuses for these men and move on to find the one guy who is really into them. I would also recommend reading "How to create a Magical Relationship" from Ariel and Shya Kane, which is a very simple and direct guide to have satisfying, honest, fun and magical relationships. The Kanes' approach is gentle and full of wisdom and gives a fresh take on a world that keeps wanting to divide men from women. It also really explains how to keep relationships alive and fully in-love, which is absolutely the next step after he is totally into you!!" ... 2-0 out of 5 stars This Book Made Me Fall Asleep!
After reading "Why Do Men Have Nipples" and loving it, I had high hopes for book number two.
5-0 out of 5 stars Hey Doc, here's one that you'll like!!!!!!!!
I loved this book!!!!! I learned a lot and laughed my butt off in the process (hmmm, here's one for you guys, can one laugh ones butt off).I had only read a few pages of the "Nipple" book and liked it but never bought it or finshed it (Sorry guys, a slow learner here) but halfway through this book, I went and ordered the Nipple book. I highly recommend this book to everyone I know and those I don't know.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Probing Read For Understanding Our Bodies
Overall, I found this book very enjoyable. As suggested by the title, quirky questions that tangentially pop, or might eventually come, into one's mind are answered.Questions related to differences in the sexes, responses in sports physiology, affects of hormones, and truths of homeopathic healing are investigated among other topics. The book is tied together with lead-in fictional anecdotes and interjected IM conversations. The anecdotes are amusing, but the IM messages are very interesting as they show some of the behind the scenes methods (and digressions) that entail in the approach of putting a large literary work together.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Joy
I have always enjoyed Larry Miller's stand up, and now I am delighted to find his point of view in book form.I love his take on marriage and family (his wife is a hoot!) to the everyday nonsense that we all do.I feel this book is very relatable and smart -- even though there where times I didn't understand one of his many historical refrences, I still understood what he was saying.Mr. Miller is a terrific writer, who is not afraid to reveal all sides of his personality. If you want a good laugh, then get this book! You will not be dissapointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Laugh-outloud funny, but wait - it's great writing, too!
That Larry Miller is a crafty one all right. You think you're reading a book of comic essays but then it suddenly dawns on you: this is really good!Impressive! It's got my brain - and my heart - pumping. How'd he do that?
5-0 out of 5 stars This is not only delightful writing and fun reading, it is wonderfully funny!
I love Larry Miller.Ever since I heard his "Five Levels of Drinking" years ago, and his comment that woman is the most powerful magnet in the universe and all men are cheap metal, well, I knew we had found a mind that could tell the funny truth. This is not a simple thing. Most of what is passed off as comedy is just awful and obscene twaddle that gets laughs by punching the audience in the gut.The laughs are more explosive exhalations than expressions of delight and joy.Miller brings delight and joy.
