5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide with great strategies
I think this guide is a must-have for anyone seeking to venture into the dungeons *currently* in the game. The information goes well beyond the maps you have in the Atlas addon by providing details for quest lines and boss loot tables. The strategies alone make the book a worthwhile purchase. Those written for high level raids such as Blackwing Lair and Ahn Qiraj were developed by actual players -- and they work! This book is much loved by the people in my guild.

1-0 out of 5 stars Practically Worthless
If it didn't have a short precis of each mission, then it would be completely worthless. I was looking for something more along the lines of one of Andy Herd's FSX reviews found at Flightsim website. And Andy's reviews are free!I paid over $20 for this waste of time and paper.Does the writer, Bart G. Farkas, really think people buying this manual are looking to find out the basics of how a plane stays aloft? We wanted the FSX secrets, the down & dirty stuff that only a collaborator with the programmers could have written. What we got was a 2nd grade book report on the very basics of aviation.Save your money, or review a copy before purchasing. You've been warned.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fledglin
Although the reviewers of October 14, 2006 rated this FSX Guide very poorly. they have inadvertently strengthened the product by giving a very useful and informative errata to the Guide. We applaud their specificity. We also look forward to an immediate, upgraded corrected FSX Guide from Prim Game Guides.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
There are many typographical errors.Even worse, the airspeed info is often inaccurate. For example, on page 107, the Boeing 737-800 is listed with a cruising speed of 477 kt but when you read the next line it states that the maximum speed is 147 kt.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not quite worth it
I haven't actually purchased this book, but Amazon won't let me post without giving it a score. However, I just want to point out to any WoW newbies interested in buying it that many things change in Azeroth, meaning this atlas will become more and more incorrect as time passes. Flight paths have changed more than once, as have the locations of various NPCs. Also, dungeons and entire areas have been added to Azeroth since it was released two years ago, including several since this book was published last winter. If you really want up-to-date maps, I would search online for sites that keep updated maps. Usually, sites that offer maps also have maps and walkthroughs of instances, so they will be much more useful than this atlas. Allakazam is one site I can think of off the top of my head. Not to knock this book, I'm sure it's pretty and all that; I just don't think it's that useful for playing the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Crazy Enoch!
This Book is the best companion book for WoW or my name aint CRAZY!
5-0 out of 5 stars WoW Atlas
I haven't used the book in the game yet (I bought it in anticipation of my return from a deployment).I looked through the book briefly (it just made me want to play more when I return), it seems to have a lot of good information for each city.My main reason for buying the atlas is that I really don't like to switch screens back and forth when playing. So hopefully this will help me out.If I feel different after playing with the atlas, I'll update my review. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Essential if you want to experience everything Oblivion has to offer.
If you're buying Oblivion, you might as well buy this guide at the same time. Although you don't need it, having the guide isn't going to ruin the game for you. Nobody said you have to use the walkthroughs to "cheat" your way through the quests. It is all the extra info that make this book worthwhile. The chapters on character creation, combat, spellmaking, and enchanting are very helpful and give you a lot more information than you can learn from the game itself. It's also nice to have a resource to look through to find what all you can do in the game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Buy it used, not new
Buy a used copy of this guide. If you are playing Oblivion you will need access to this encyclopedia of information. The authors organized the information poorly. You will find your self flipping from page x to page z and then to page y.I suspect the book was on a tight time table, it certainly suffers from lack of thought.Bottom line, you will need the information but you will have to dig through a lot of chaff to find the wheat.Use this book in conjuction with the guides on GameFAQ.This book's main advantage is the maps.Very detailed. At times deep within the book you may find errors, such as place x is located northwest of y, when is really southwest. Also its confusing when they say place x is to the right of place z, when they should say place x is southeast of place z.

Editorial Review

This Squaresoft-sanctioned book on one of the most highly anticipated console games ever does not disappoint. Those who have managed to obtain a copy of the game (descriptions of rioting and fighting upon the retail release of Final Fantasy IIV sound like sheer hyperbole, but probably aren't) will find plenty of helpful clues, maps, and general game play advice. Those less fortunate can at least take solace in--or further whet their appetites with--the hundreds of beautiful glossy screen shots that fill each chapter. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars No Good At ALL
This is one of the worst game guides I have read in my life...and I've read a few. I got it back in '97 when the game first came out and spoiled everything (even THE big event at the end of the first disc). I later got the guide from Versus Books and it blew this pathetic book out of the water. It spoiled nothing and had twice the amount of useful secrets (including materia combos). Don't waste your time (and money) with this joke. Thankfully, BRADYGames realized its idiocy, fixed it, and got it right for FFVIII's guide (which basically aped FFVII's Versus Books' guide's style). Then they ruined it again with that awful, useless FFIX guide. I guess money grubbers never learn. And guys, you're supposed to be reviewing the GUIDE, not the game...

2-0 out of 5 stars Terrible...
I guess this is an okay guide if you just want to get the game over with, but why would you waste your time doing that? This guide misses out on so much. I've found items on my own that weren't even mentioned in the guide. The bestiary has no organization and it's still missing many monsters/enemies. You can tell that they tried to make it in the order that you'll encounter the enemies, but many of them can be found before and many of them aren't even listed at all. The weapons, items, and materials information at the end is not detailed enough. "Side Areas" lacks organizations and it isn't very helpful. Where is the help on Enemy Skills? On the walkthrough section, they don't even tell you the right buttons most of the time (not that you need it, though). The numbering/lettering system gets a little bit confusing. A lot of their "strategies" are based on the same party that they like to use. Not everyone likes to use Aeris, especially if they have played the game before. I could go on and on but I don't want to bore you. On a side note, the PC version (black and white, I can't find it anywhere anymore) by the same author was so much better. Everything that this guide lacked was in the PC version (except for color, but they made that up by having color maps and stuff in the back).

2-0 out of 5 stars Product damage
The service was great I recieved my package within a week, but when i opened it i noticed that the book was damaged due to the poor handling. I guess if your looking to just have the guide for reference then you won't have a problem but if you want it for keeps then you might want to order it with some bigger stuff so it doesn't get damaged on the way. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what it says it is
This atlas is exactly what it claims to be - a book of game maps and charts telling approximately where most everything is. Brady did mess up the colors of the flight paths, but anyone who's got even one flight path can figure that out in 5 seconds or less. The book was published in December 2005 and game content including new flight paths and auction houses has been added since then, so they won't show up in the atlas. This is not the fault of Brady.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good for some things, not the end-all, be-all
First of all, this is a lovely piece of bookcraft -- a well-made, well-bound, solid book with full color pages, well-typeset, and easy to read. That's enough for a star all by itself in my eyes.
2-0 out of 5 stars Simply put, an atlas
A crazy woman tore up my world of warcraft guide while I was vacationing last summer, and when I searched the local game stores, they said the information was too outdated that it was out of print, and for some reason my mother blieved that.

3-0 out of 5 stars Two Years Later and I Still Use This Thing...Sometimes.
Even though it is two years old (and I've been playing for about that amount of time) it still has some helpful info. Of course it doesnt have any of the recent higher level things because when this guide came out there were'nt that many high level players. Also SE does not want to give away too much end game information. SE wants people to keep paying money to find out for themselves. Even though some of the quest are a bit dated it gives me a starting point. Without this guide to show me certain quests I wouldn't even know where to start to look online for it. Oh, and about the job info, the guide was written the way SE intented the jobs to be used, not the way the players use them now (Ninja was never supposed to be a tank you know.) But anyway...to the real points >>>
1-0 out of 5 stars Outdated, and polluted with bad editorial and misinformation
Final Fantasy XI is an MMORPG's with a developer actively supporting it as well as a dedicated user base creatively finding new ways of putting play mechanisms in more and more clever uses. It's a living environment, which no book can ever come close to detailing, and no book can present you with anything better than an incomplete snapshot in time, forever left behind by all the regular game mechanism tweaks and new item additions.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good For Those Who Are Just Getting Into The Game On Their Own
Like my title for this review states, I'd say that this guide is pretty good for how "old" it is (or how long it has been out for). But it helped me get into the game and get started pretty well once I started playing Final Fantasy XI on the PC for the first time. For those who think it is there to guide you all the way through this great MMORPG, think again, because it is just to help you get around in the beginning, not complete the game. In my experience and with the experience with my friends that play "MMO's" it is quite difficult to complete a MMORPG, especially one like FF XI. If you're one individual that is just getting into MMO's, pick up FF XI and the guide to help you with your first few adventures in the grand world of MMORPG's.

3-0 out of 5 stars ...
As the author states in the introduction you need to read the book in a comfortable chair with a laptop+net connection, you cant read this without a keyboard with in arms reach.I expected the examples to be in pseudo code or at a less hard core level of C, if your programming is not top notch be carefull.

This book is class. Really great and the author is a gentleman. Also check out the online forums dedicate to this book at AI Junkie. There the author himself chips in with helpul advice for AI novices and stalwards alike. I have his other book too and it is also five stars.

A game as big and as full of extras and secrets as Lego Star Wars II, you mayneed a leg up.Getting some of the hidden Lego Canisters and figuring out what you have to do in Freeplay mode can be bothersome. So of course, there's a strategy guide to give you a leg up.You may find you need it, but on the whole, the guide could've been way better. It isn't that the guide is bad, it's that it's heavily disorganized.

2-0 out of 5 stars Unique is not best, but best in it's class
This is not the best hands-on, how-to book about designing your ownUnreal Tournament mod but it is the only book available. Thus, like the first Gutenberg printing press, it's the best in it's class! In the tutorials the authors assume that you already know as much about the Unreal Editor as they do. If you do not know the in's and out's and idiotsyncrasies of the Unreal Editor(which is why I bought the book in the first place) you will learn new definitions of patience during the first 23 chapters. In the end you will thank the authors for their altruism and capatalistic guile without which this knowledge would not be publicly available. Thank G-d and the great Satan for freedom of information! Thank America for the freedom to say this!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
I was brand new to all aspects of game design, and I had no idea where to start. So I opened up the book preview in the Unreal Tournament folder and saw this book.I went up to borders and bought it a week later.I've had this book for almost 3 weeks now, and Holy Crap! From the start, it explains the history of the Unreal engine and gives you a close up look of all the tools used.It has in-depth tutorials that make designing your first map a breeze. The CD contained in the book also has the May 5 Personal Learning Edition on it.In fact, the CD is my only complaint. This book expects you to use the CD for every texture and static mesh used.Overall, the book is a must buy for any begginner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unreal Mapping.
This book is the best and only one book published in Unreal technology nobody beat this tutorial book for mapping in Unreal tournament 2004 I recommend this thick book to anyone wanting to master the Unreal editor.

In this day and age, a good strategy guide is actually pretty hard to find.Luckily there are still some good ones out there, and the Okami Official Strategy Guide by Bradygames is definitely a good one.If you're stuck on Okami and really need a leg up, then this guide is your ticket to doing so.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful!
With the prices of games ever rising, it's become a question for me whether or not to dish out the extra money to purchase a strategy guide that I may not even need or might not tell me much of anything.
5-0 out of 5 stars As Beautiful as the Game Itself
I'm still waiting on my copy of the game.It shipped late (not from Amazon), and I'll get it sometime next week.In the meantime, though, I got this book dropped off on my doorstep, and it is actually doing an amazing job of tiding me over.I like to buy guides for the art, but too many recent ones have been cheap affairs - Drakengard 2's Prima guide was a far cry from the lush one its predecessor enjoyed, consisting entirely of low-res screenshots and dull text in a repetitive, cookie-cutter format.I was optimistic that a game as lovely as Okami would make for a more satisfying guide, and happily, I guessed right.Of course, the game already looks astonishing, as anyone who's sampled the demo knows, so a parade of screenshots would almost be good enough.Thankfully, though, Brady decided not to fall into this trap, and instead they thoroughly outdid themselves, taking full advantage of their medium to produce a stunning visual treat.
