You'd rather not buy this
This really is not funny or thought-provoking.Dumb examples from pop culture -- way too many.People didn't like it when used recently at a birthday party, and we abandoned it all together in favor of a much funnier, crowd-engaging version of this game: the Zobmondo Book of Outrageous Choices.

When the point isn't to be deep.
I truly enjoyed this book because it allowed me to lighten up about "choices" or "dilemmas" or whatever you want to call them.I understand and appreciate the need for self-evaluation, analysis, curiousity, sharing, and developing.I do, however, sometimes need to not go there.
Not Valuable for Youth Ministry
If you are looking for a book filled with thought provoking questions to encourage a serious discussion...don't purchase this book.As many other reviewers have accurately stated, it is simply absurd.

Reasonable price. Well written. But.....
This book is a reasonably priced, well written shoppers guide. However, I really don't see what his "52 brilliant ideas are".
And solve you can...
I have not been solving sudoku's for very long. But, I knewthere had to be a more methodical manner than the single cell version I was using. And, I was correct! In my opinion, this book provides any and everyone with all the techniques needed to solve sudoku's of all levels of difficulty. In just one afternoon I started solving fiendish levels of sudok puzzles. What a blast!!

More quiz fun from Mr. Grosswirth
This the second book of quizzes from Mr. Grosswirth, a well- known and long-time Mensa member, who probably goes back 40 years with Mensa. The questions range greatly in variety and difficulty, and there's enough here to challenge anyone from a neophyte test taker to a more experienced, battle-scarred IQ test veteran (like me :-).

There seem to be several different categories of people who purchase books such as this: Those with superior intelligence who use these exercises as a kind of intellectual aerobics inorder to "stay in shape", those with above-average intelligence who are curious to know how well they can "do", and those with lesser intelligence who think that purchasing the book and completing the exercises will somehow make them brighter. (Perhaps there is another group whose members purchase the book and display it prominently but complete no exercises.) In recent years, I have purchased a number of these books and consider this one to be among the best. (Yes, thanks for asking, I completed the exercises but how well I did is not relevant to this review.) For whom do I recommend this specific book? Anyone who is curious to know what the exercises involve, how well she or he does when completing them, and (of greatest interest to me) learning WHY her or his responses are correct or incorrect. Completing exercises in several different books also reveals certain patterns of thought which stimulate the mind to approach a given problem or question from different perspectives. For example, what do the answer choices share in common? What is missing among the options offered? Over time, we develop certain mindsets. For example, we tend to see only what we expect to see. So-called "brain teasers" force us to perceive a given problem or question differently. The brain is a muscle which, like all other muscles, needs regular exercise. good collection
The reason I chose this book over others, is for its variations of sudoku.I was originally introduced to sudoku years ago, in the book "MENSA Math & Logic Puzzles" by Dave Tuller and Michael Rios.Since this was published before sudoku became so popular, it is called by the name "Number Place".In addition to the standard sudoku, the MENSA book has great variations--not all sections are 3x3, but rather irregularly shaped (some like puzzle pieces, but still 9x9 grid).After enjoying those, when sudoku exploded, I got bored with the standard 9x9 grid really fast, so it was great to see a book (this one) with a variation on the original.Here is a warning, though:the 16x16 games take FOREVER and require a lot of patience to do it methodically.(The 9x9 grids have 81 squares, the 16x16 have 256--more than 3x as many squares.)

Sudoku Addict!
Well ever since June when I was in a cast and stuck on the couch for a few months I have become an absolute addict to sudoku.The first series of the For Dummies books was the first one I got and so far they have all been consistently great.It is a nice mix of different levels of puzzles.Get all 3!

I predict that this book will become a classic for both beginningand intermediate magicians. The puzzles and brain teasers presented in this book have been enormously helpful for my recent interviews! i was astonished when top banks asked me the EXACT same puzzles that were illustrated in this book! i HIGHLY recommend this book to ANYBODY who is interviewing at any banks, it will help you tremendously!

Great Fun
This quiz book has a total of 12 complete Jeopardy games, complete with Final Jeopardy questions.As in the television show, topics are all over the board (pun intended), including things like "John Cusack Movies," "Crustaceans," "Boo!" (in which each answer contains the letters b-o-o).Each topic has five answers with space to write the question, and the correct question is on the back of the page, so there's no having to flip back to an index or anything like that. Not worthwhile for preparing for Jeopardy Audition
I agree with David Martin who said that this book was not useful for a Jeopardy audition. I auditioned at the same time as Mr. Martin and I found more useful a book called Cultural Literacy Guide, even with its minor factual errors (the reviews of that book will point out the errors)In addition I would recommend watching Entertainment tonight or reading USA today for a while to catch up on your popculture info.

Are you thinking about buying this book because you are about to take the test to become a contestant on Jeopardy?If so, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I just took the test, and I can tell you that the test has NOTHING to do with the kind of questions this book contains.All of the questions you'll be expected to know are taken from Final Jeopardy on those evenings when none of the three contestants have a clue as to what the correct answer is.If you are auditioning for the show, it's probably because you can routinetly answer 85-90% of the Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy questions, and you can answer them faster than Alex can read the question.Well, that's great, but the test does not contain any of those questions.The test is nothing but the very toughest Final Jeopardy questions on the most arcane and esoteric questions.This book contains none of those kind of questions, only the easy trivia that you already know anyway.If you want to pump up you ego with a bathroom book that makes you feel smart, then by all means buy this book.But if you want to prepare for the Jeopardy audition by studying the kind of obscure minutuate that might show up on the test, then you are better off buying an opera CD. ... Get this book!

Good size for packing along.
I just read the previous review and I find I like this book for all the opposite reasons.I like this size.It fits into my pocketbook ready to pull out any time I'm waiting.I don't use pencils for puzzles, but I did try a pencil and agree that the pencil does not show up well.I prefer a fine point ball point and this paper is good for it.I like a paperback like this because I tear out the puzzles when they're complete and toss them.
The worst of the bunch
I love this type of puzzle, and I've tried many of the variations that are available on this site. This one is by far the worst. The paper is unacceptable for a pencil puzzle. It's much too thin and gray, and the pencil marks don't show up well. The book is also too small, so it's hard to hold the pages open. The puzzles are too easy, and the pictures don't really look like anything.

A refreshingly different kind of brain teaser book
Being a life-long lover of puzzles and mind games, I've collected lots of brain teaser books over the years.The title of this book really caught my eye.After all, aren't all brain teaser books "left-brained" by definition?Not necessarily so with this book. Little discernible purpose behind the selection
This volume contains a large selection of photographs of primarily Victorian artefacts. Readers are invited to discern the purpose of each oddity - hence the claim to 'right brain' strengthening.I could not discern themes, trends or any guiding cognitive theory holding the assembly together.What the reader gets is a mish-mash of images more suited to an antique store fetishist.If poring over images of Victorian apple corers. toasters and other assorted early industrial artefacts, is your hobby, then this book is right up your alley. On the other hand, if you expected this book (which I bought on the assumption that it might have something interesting to say about right brain visualisation and cognition)to be of some intellectual value, you will be sadly disappointed. Ironically it is a book largely about rubbish; the rubbish of a bygone age.Happily, this book, a testimonial to that age, I suspect will soon be numbered among its ranks. ... Read more

Pretty engrossing..
This book has some really interesting trivia a passionate quizzer would like to know. I would probably rate it 4.5/5. Would have loved it if it had more because the quality of questions was pretty good. The bottom line, and all that matters is its worth the money!!!

If you enjoy trivia games, you will want to have this book.No, it is not lengthy, but is does provide a few hours of enjoyment and fun.
