For Lovers of Crosswords
This is a very good puzzle book especially if you like doing the New York Times Sunday puzzle. Throw away the answers and get out your dictionary and have loads of fun solving the puzzles. Love it!!Taylor

Keeps your brain healthy and active
This is a motherlode of crosswords for the crossword lover.For the majority of the book, the hardness of the puzzles are randomly distributed.It is my understanding that the last 150 puzzles, they are distributed from easy to hard.
Many hours of entertainment in an inexpensive volume
If you have tried and liked the crossword puzzles in the New York Times, but do not subscribe to the newspaper, this book is for you. It is certainly more cost effective than subscribing just for the puzzles. There is also a crossword only online subscription option, incidentally, but this book probably packs more bang for the buck. If you have not previously solved New York Times puzzles, it's worth trying a few before you buy the book.

Finally!This is the book I've been looking for.
Because the puzzles get harder during every week, I can build up my abilities and I am getting more confident in doing the Thursday and Friday puzzles in the NY Times!Better than always doing easy puzzles, because its amazing how you can improve by challinging yourself with a range, just as the NY Times provides every week.
Difficulty Noted - Very Nice!
In the past, most of the NY Times Crossword books were either themed collections or just general collections.There are the Sunday Crossword Books, as well as Will Shortz's Most Difficult Puzzle Books, but this book has a great advantage:You can tell immediately by the day of the week how difficult the puzzle is going to be.Want a quickie?Do a Monday!Want a toughie?Do a Friday.I often like the Wednesday or Thursday puzzles because they have fun gimmicks, but aren't too difficult.This book makes it easy to find them! ... Funny but disappointing
This is a nice selection of fun crosswords, but they are too easy.

These crossword puzzles are, for the most part, easy to medium difficulty.The twist is that they're "funny".By funny, I mean kind of corny, but in a good way.People who are familiar with NY Times puzzles will recognize this type of puzzle: there's often a gimmick or particular style of pun that shows up in 3 or 4 large clues in the puzzle.They often show up in Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday puzzles.
Not exactly hilarious.....
I got this book for a Christmas present and finished it fairly quickly.It was pleasant.The puzzles are a mixed lot of difficulty, mostly on the easier side.The "funny" part involves puns and wordplay and the humorous quotation format.

This is the one!!
I got this as a Christmas present along with another crossword dictionary, and this is by far the best one. Even if you don't think an answer is in here, check anyway.Most of the time you'll be pleasently suprised.And if you can't find what you're looking for one way, try it a different way and there is a good possibility it's in there.

Best crossword dictionary around.
After approx. a month of use this dictionay has been the most useful dictionary I've had.I also have used three other crossword dictionaries during this time period but the "Million Word Crossword Dictionary" has proved to be the better by far.I highly recommend this dictionary to crossword buffs.RCD.

Delightful, intelligent, curiosity-satisfying
What an enjoyable book! It is so intelligently done, and provides so many satisfying answers for this curious reader. It is not a book version of the movie, nor is it an advertisement for the movie.
GREAT book...
This book has lotsa puzzles and is very informative. Merl Reagle's explanation of Making a Crossword Puzzle was an eye-opener. These geniuses explain things like the, ahem, common folk could do same. RAVE review for this great companion book.

Everything..even goof ups!!
Not a bad puzzle book really, maybe not as good as some others but Ok nonetheless. However, they skimped on proofing I think, as the easy crossword puzzles are listed as the medium and vice-versa. A little discombobulating!

Puzzles for dad
I actually bought this book for my dad - an older gentleman who needs to keep the ol' brain pleasantly occupied. I coupled it with a (ubiquitous) sudoku set, too. He told me last week that he's been rationing them out so he won't finish the book too soon. Great stuff.

High quality as always
The NY Times acrostics are always challenging, which I love. If you are new to acrostics, or just want some that are a little more "mindless", then I suggest the Mensa acrostics book, they are much easier.

Several significant typos, but still rewarding
I've completed 26 books of this type (Acrostic, Acrostix, Crostic, Crostix ...), and in the others, typos were rare and insignificant -- they were in the clues.This book has several instances of mislabeled letters, a few cases where "(two words)" was missing, and one case where "(two words)" was on a one-word answer but missing from a nearby two-word answer.I was still able to solve the puzzles, however, and I enjoyed them. ... Fabulous Poolside or on the Train
I am a crossword addict, but after a tough day at work, I don't have the energy for the Sunday- level NYT Crossword.So when I just want to unwind I get out this book and do one of the puzzles. It refreshes my memory forclues that help me do harder puzzles when I am not fatigued, and still letsme get my crossword fix.The same quality as the other puzzles... justpuzzles for the frazzles!

Just for me, Great solving experience
Often on facing Tuesday to Saturday's puzzles I can do nothing but look up references or directly cheat. As a crossword fan, but not a English mother-tonguer, this collections of NYT's Monday crosswords are my best-loved crossword book.----They are just on my solving skill level. Thisbook is for eveyone who with few solving experience but eagerly want toenjoy high-standard puzzles.

easy crosswords
Well, pretty easy but not THAT easy.Finishing one on a coffee break is probably not something I could always do. They are fun and in a good format.

The thing about crossword puzzles is that even hard-core fans sometimes like to do an easy and fun puzzle.These ones are great.An excellent puzzler should be able to complete them in 10-15 minutes or less, a decent puzzler should easily have them done in under 20 minutes.The title is no joke: these really are great puzzles for your coffee break.This little book makes a great stocking stuffer! ... Mixed Bag
I'm not a champion crossword puzzle solver so some of these are ridiculously hard for me.I prefer the straight ahead puzzles without gimmicky tricks.Many of these puzzles are from the '50s and '60s so they meet my criteria (especially since I grew up in that era).A number of them, however, are way too hard for me or else too cute (e.g. answers where one of the letters is incorrect, etc.).I would have rated it a "3" for me but I realize that many people want variety so I gave it a "4".

A must for the crossword puzzle addict

The best puzzle book ever!
This book will keep you entertained for days!Besides the Sudoku puzzles, you will greatly enjoy the Bridges (also known as Hashi) and Slitherlink.I've been searching everywhere for more Slitherlink puzzles because they are fantastic!Buy this book, you will not be dissapointed!
