I've been using the Far-Side Desk Calendar for 3 years now
This is a great way to organize yourself. This calendar is spiral bound, has an annual theme for its cartoons (which are very funny!), and is divided into weekly pages (and each month has its own page as well). This is convenient because sometimes you want to look at your month at a glance, and sometimes you want to make more specific daily plans. There is space to write notes for the month and space for daily notes. There is a small section for phone numbers, for a yearly plan, and each week comes with its own color cartoon.

It's the Far Side, but...
Okay, it's a collection of Far Side comics, which is what I want, so it's awesome for that reason.BUT, the actual final product in book form is a little disappointing.First, all the comics are black and white.Yeah, it's not about the art and you don't miss much without color, but come on, would a little color kill anyone (especially ones that were originally color)?Second, it's pretty thin on strips, with 4 to a page most of the time (a good amount) sometimes 2 on a page, and even occassionally one comic on a single page!It looks pretty silly with just one giant comic on a page.

My First Far Side Collection
Some of my earliest memories are filled with reading The Far Side on my father's lap after the evening meal.Whenever I asked my parents for a one of the standard collections, they told me to wait, one day they would all be in one book.Then, for Christmas one year, I got this book.

The dream of every humorist
If you like smiling (and sometimes laughing), wandering why you had never thought of how things are when they are seen by non humans (and I'not only speaking of animals but of vegetables and rocks and idiots and my boss, too)...see the world with the eyes of one of the greatest geniuses of humour.
A Must have for Far Side Fans
I laughed when the cartoons were new, and I am still laughing at them.Gary Larson had a rare gift for creating humor that could border on the bizarre, but was always novel and fresh.The cartoons are arranged by the year they were first published.The only downside is the heft of the volumes, so they don't make easy bed time reading.

A different meaning for "All Creatures Great and Small".

brilliant
Gary Larson is by far the most genius, the most innovative cartoonest ever to hit the world. This gallery has a forward by Robin Williams and tons of Larson's best work. You can't not love his sense of humor (and definitely check out the Prehistory of the Far Side).

Hilarious
Here's another omnibus edition of Gary Larson's weird, wacky and utterly hilarious cartoons. To enter Larson's world is to enter a world where animals have meaningful conversations, bugs make their homes in nice suburban houses, flies fly planes etc, etc. Certainly not the mainstream kind of cartoon but for anyone who likes 'off the wall' type humour this is a 'must buy'. Absolutely hilarious.

Far Side Gallery 2
It was an ok purchase. I am a die hard fan of far side as it appeals to my sense of humour.However, it had about as much duration as the average archie comic and left no lasting impression.No desire to re-read.Overall a fair book.

Had a good laugh reading the book
Last year, I received the book as a gift from my husband. I put it aside for almost a year. He actually finished reading it before I even gave it a chance. Last month, I started reading it and I don't regret the experience.
Better masterpieces here than in that museum in Paris
With a cow Mona Lisa painting on the front cover how can you go wrong?The cartoons in here are from Hound of the Far Side, The Far Side Observer and Night of the Crash Test Dummies. Funny and profound cartoons from one of the best
These cartoons are hysterical; my particular favorites are those that involve puns or wordplay. For example, on page 62 the illustration features clowns and flying pies. The caption reads, "In the corridors of Clowngress." On page 43, there is an illustration of Moray eels at a cocktail party and the caption reads, "Social morays." No topic is beyond Larson's reach. There is Mike Wallace's interview with the devil, Acts of God as a vaudeville production, the devil giving an updated weather forecast where the predicted cold front never appeared and the inside tour of the Acme Fake Vomit Company.
Watch for Amazon River Cows
This book takes its name from the full color fold-out centerfold showing an array of cows, many of which are rarely seen; some of which are extinct.Included in this dubious display of bovine beasts is the rare, but deadly Amazon River Cow.Then there is the Skyscraper Suckerfoot and the Tennessee Portaford.Unfortunately, not all of these are all that funny, but some are entertaining.

I am telling you if u have never read any of gary larson's books or comics, you have to start right now. The things are just pure genius i tell you. Hysterical look into a fabricated and all-to-real history of one of the most popular comics of all time.
I would totally recommend this book for anyone who would like some insight into the mind of the man who brought us the Far Side as well as anyone with an interest in the cartooning industry.

This book is fantastic.I've had it for years and just re-discovered it.It's essential for any far side fan because it's more than just a compilation.I think it may even be a good introduction if you're just learning about the far side from the calendar (since the panel strip isn't in circulation anymore).If you'd like to own one book but aren't sure which to buy or where to start, start with this.

Gary Larson, Come Back, All Is Forgiven!
Reading Bride Of The Far Side made me remember how great Gary Larson's daily dose mentally deranged cartoons were. I grew up reading his strip and boy do I miss him. In this collection of about two-hundred Far Sides, he carries on his tradition of good-natured insanity. Almost every cartoon in the book made me laugh, grin or at least go, "Eeeeewwww!" More than a few also made me stop and think. See, Larson is, in his better moments (which describes most of his moments) also a man of profound insight and deep thought. You have to keep your mind on its toes (yuck) to follow his punchlines. I do sincerely wish he'd make a return to the daily papers, or at least be more forthcoming with brand new material released in book form. I'd love to see that. Until the coming of that glorious day, I'll keep myself entertained with his '80's and '90's anthologies like Bride Of The Far Side, which is a truly awesome book!

Ahh, Gary Larson does it again with another compilation of his crazy, weird, sometimes unusual cartoons. Join him this time with hijinks at the zoo, Nature scenes we rarely see, the Mr Potato Head court case, cavemen adventures, ducks and many more hilarious situations from the funnier side of life. Recommended to everyone!!!!

A tragic tale of gypsy cattle and pigeons
This story tells the tale of Gary Larson's journey into madness, when he confronts an evil gypsy cow that curses him to forever entertain people with riotous cartoons.The start of the book relates his adventures against "Madame "C"", a molevelent cow.It is a wonderful, (and thankfully short), tale concerning his frightful encounter in a smooth color cartoon over several pages. I laughed my way through it
The cartoons in this book are hysterical. Larson has a great sense of humor, albeit a little twisted. My favorite was the one where God is going the up escalator and the Devil is going down. The Devil has just smacked God in the face with a crème pie. Many of the cartoons are visual and textual puns on life and the universe. I laughed my way all through this book and strongly recommend it to anyone who needs to yuk up their life.

The far end of the Far Side
This is the very first collection of Larson's beloved Far Side cartoons. It's a small book, with just two of his early cartons per page, but they're good ones. All of them show Larson's inverted sense of reality. One shows a housewife on the phone, surrounded by fishbowls: "Well that's how it happened Sylvia ... I kissed this frog, he turns into a prince, we get married, and wham! ...I'm stuck at home with a bunch of pollywogs." Several others show an upset Santa Claus, his famous reindeer, and a mention of venison. Many show his fascination with improbable doings of wildlife. That earned him a place in the hearts of biologists everywhere, so much that a newly-discovered species was named in his honor.

cracking cartoons
This book will have you laughing all the way to the toilet...What you need to do is gather round your friends and family, even the old ones and enjoythis book together because it's quite fantastic. I started to look at hisbooks at a very young age and was inspired to draw my own cartoons, which ihave done for many years.
